Killermont Parish Church is 75 years old.

We want to celebrate.

Will you join us?

Our Kirk Session and Congregational Board have been discussing how best to celebrate – to the glory of God – this important milestone in our Church’s history. We believe that the focus of our celebrations should be on what we are doing today and will do tomorrow to take the Good News of Jesus Christ not only to our own community but to neighbouring communities and out into the wider world. This is our mission and God has given us all that we need to carry it out.

So here are some of ways in which we will celebrate:

Our ‘75 Fund’

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me … whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Mt 25:35-36&40

We want to offer real support to 3 wonderful projects that care for people who would otherwise be written off as ‘the least.’ One is close by us in our city of Glasgow, the second in Europe and the third in India. We hope that we can provide each with a chunk of money which will make a real difference to real people. And, we pray that some of us will feel called to become more personally involved in practical ways.

Here are the 3 projects (click on each name to see their web site):

  • Findlay Family Network works in the St Georges Cross/Maryhill area of West/North Glasgow. By building up and supporting parents and families – and tackling the trauma of family breakdown – the Network believes that healthy and confident communities can be built. This is front-line caring for folk in great need who live very close to us.
  • Harvest for the Hungry works in Eastern Europe as part of the Eurovangelism group of Christian charities providing food for children and adults who would not otherwise have enough to eat. Food is bought locally and distributed in Christ’s name to those who are hungry. Take a look at this project and many others on the “eurovangelism” web site.
  • India Ministries Fellowship works among children and young people who are the poorest of the poor in India. Through education and training it offers hope and purpose in lives oppressed by poverty and prejudice.

Now, more details about the 75 Fund:
  • Our target is £7,500
  • Everyone is invited to contribute
  • No contribution is too small
  • As a guideline – how about £75 for a special 75th Birthday
  • Put your donation in an envelope marked ‘KPC 75 Fund’ and place in the offering plate on any Sunday.
Or send to our Treasurer: Graham Duncan, 96 Inveroran Drive, G61 2AT.
  • Please tell Graham who you are so that we can maximise the benefit of your gift through the ‘Gift Aid’ tax refund Scheme

Our worship

“Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” Luke 4:8

We want to raise our voices in thanksgiving for the past and in expectation that God will continue to bless us in the future. Now is a time for rededication and a chance for new beginnings.

Here’s how we celebrate through our worship:

Sunday 9 May 2010 – Kirsteen Cowling of Eurovangelism shared her amazing stories of caring for ‘the least of our brothers and sisters’ in Eastern Europe.

Sunday 6 June 2010 – Open-air service in King George V Park. This was an opportunity to show our confidence in Jesus Christ and to stand up for him outside our church walls.
Invited friends, family and neighbours joined us for worship – and tea, coffee and doughnuts afterwards!

Sunday 29 August 2010 – Shirley Berry of Findlay Family Network brought us up to date with its work. Shirley is known to many, as she lives with her family here in Killermont.

Sunday 12 September 2010 – Rev Dr Martin Fair and his wife Elaine, who were much loved when they were here at KPC and who are leaders of a vibrant and visionary congregation in Arbroath, return to share with us.

Sunday 3 October 2010 – Rev Dr Fred Drummond, National Director of Evangelical Alliance Scotland, will join us. Since it’s our birthday (or very close to it), we’ll share a soup and sandwich lunch after the service.

Please accept this invitation to join us.

Our celebration will be less if you are not part of it.
