Bearsden Coat of Arms
Killermont Parish Church has grown up with the community we serve, that is Bearsden, near Glasgow, Scotland.
We began life in 1935 as a daughter hall-church of New Kilpatrick Parish Church, to meet the needs of incoming residents to the new housing then being built in the Killermont/Kessington area of Bearsden.
This was over a mile from Bearsden Cross, where New Kilpatrick Parish Church had been the centre of Christian worship in Bearsden for many decades, but was now too far to walk for some of the fast growing population.
In 1957, the present sanctuary was consecrated as a bold statement of Christian faith expressed in contemporary architecture and Killermont moved on to become a Parish Church in its own right.
We continue to honour the vision of Killermont’s early leaders, for instance, recently upgrading our multimedia systems, enabling us to better engage visually as well as with voice and music as we worship God.
Although we endeavour to retain continuity with what has gone before, our buildings have grown considerably over time.
More halls and the Forum were added to accommodate the demands of a growing congregation made up mainly of the local folk of Killermont.
These same folk look after the limited garden space so well and make it the welcoming feature you see below.
